We are delighted to share that Hibiscus has been recognised with the prestigious Innovation Award at the FlexoTech Awards 2025.
Our journey began with a clear challenge from the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust: design a smarter label that can meaningfully enhance Quality Assurance in Digital Pathology.
This was no small feat. Accurate and reliable slide labelling is critical in pathology, where every detail can affect patient diagnosis and treatment. Hibiscus worked closely with the department to develop a specialised slide label that not only met strict technical requirements but also addressed workflow efficiency and long-term reliability.
Every label had to withstand rigorous conditions, integrate seamlessly with digital systems, and support clinicians in their crucial work.
And, after five years of collaboration, testing, and refinement, Hibiscus delivered a label that precisely met the department’s needs. We created a solution that transformed how pathology departments manage slides—improving accuracy, efficiency, and ultimately, patient care.

Beyond the award, the project’s success has been shared internationally and garnered international recognition, with detailed results published in leading medical journals, including ResearchGate. It stands as a testament to how collaboration, creativity, and technical expertise can come together to solve complex labelling challenges.
