Description
Ensuring compliance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code is crucial for the safe and lawful transportation of hazardous materials by sea. Our IMDG Rectangular UN Number Panels are designed to facilitate this compliance, providing a clear and customisable solution for displaying UN numbers on your shipments.
Product Features:
-
Customizable Design: Our panels feature a blank orange background with a black border, allowing you to write or apply the specific UN number relevant to your consignment. We also provide them complete with UN numbers already pre-printed.
-
Standardised Dimensions: Each panel measures 120 mm in height and 300 mm in width, with a 10 mm black border, conforming to IMDG Code specifications.
-
Durable Materials: Constructed from high-quality, weather-resistant materials, these panels are designed to withstand harsh marine environments, ensuring longevity and legibility throughout the shipping process.
Regulatory Compliance:
According to the IMDG Code, the display of UN numbers is mandatory in several scenarios, including:
-
Tank Cargo Transport Units:
- Solids, liquids, or gases transported in tank cargo transport units, including each compartment of a multi-compartment tank.
-
Packaged Dangerous Goods:
- Loads exceeding 4,000 kg gross mass assigned a single UN number and constituting the only dangerous goods in the cargo transport unit.
-
Unpackaged Class 7 Materials:
- Unpackaged Low Specific Activity (LSA-I), Surface Contaminated Object (SCO-I), or SCO-III materials in or on a vehicle, freight container, or tank.
-
Exclusive Use Shipments:
- Packaged radioactive material with a single UN number in or on a vehicle or freight container, when transported under exclusive use.
-
Solid Dangerous Goods in Bulk Containers:
- Solid dangerous goods transported in bulk containers.
The IMDG Code specifies that UN numbers must be displayed in black digits not less than 65 mm high. This can be achieved by placing the UN number:
-
Against a white background below the pictorial symbol and above the class number and compatibility group letter, ensuring it does not obscure other placard elements.
-
On an orange rectangular panel (minimum 120 mm high and 300 mm wide, with a 10 mm black border) placed immediately adjacent to each placard or marine pollutant mark.
For portable tanks with a capacity of not more than 3,000 liters, the UN number may be displayed on an appropriately reduced-size orange rectangular panel with characters not less than 25 mm high.
Application and Usage:
Our IMDG Rectangular UN Number Panels are versatile and easy to apply:
-
Surface Compatibility: Suitable for use on various surfaces, including metal, plastic, and painted finishes commonly found on cargo transport units.
-
Adhesive Options: Available in self-adhesive vinyl for quick application or rigid materials for mounting, catering to different operational needs.
-
Visibility: The bright orange background with a bold black border ensures high visibility, facilitating quick identification by transport and emergency personnel.
