What is a Flexographic Label?

Flexography, often referred to as ‘flexo’, is a high-speed printing technique that uses flexible relief plates to transfer ink onto various substrates.  It is widely used in the chemical labelling sector due its durability and versatility. This print method is ideal for printing on resilient materials which can withstand harsh conditions including chemical exposure, extreme temperatures, moisture, abrasion and UV light.  Flexo printed labels maintain their integrity and legibility over time, making them ideal for chemical containers where safety information, hazard symbols, and regulatory details must remain intact.

Part-printed or Fully Pre-printed?

We provide two main types: part-printed (write-in) labels and fully pre-printed labels.

Part-printed are partially printed with certain fixed information, such as branding or safety symbols, but leave space for additional details to be written or printed later. This allows flexibility for customisation, often used when batch numbers, expiration dates, or specific chemical concentrations need to be added at different stages.

Fully pre-printed labels, on the other hand, contain all the necessary information, including product details, warnings, regulatory symbols, and branding, at the time of printing. These labels are ready for immediate use, offering consistency and saving time in high-volume production environments.

Both types of labels are crucial in the hazardous goods industry, where accuracy and regulatory compliance are key, but they cater to different operational needs depending on the level of customisation required.
