In the EU and UK, legislation requires that all hazardous substances and chemical products sold to the general public include a tactile warning label if they meet certain classifications. These tactile symbols are a legal requirement designed to alert blind or partially sighted individuals that they are handling a potentially dangerous product — helping to ensure consumer safety through inclusive design.
Tactile warning triangle labels, AKA Tactile warning of danger labels, must be applied to any consumer product that is classified as:

Highly or Extremely Flammable
This requirement also extends to specific categories of aerosols and E-Cigarettes, which often contain hazardous ingredients that must be labelled accordingly. Manufacturers and distributors must remain vigilant, as the obligation to include tactile warnings is based either on the hazard classification of the substance or the presence of certain ingredients at threshold concentrations. These criteria are set out in Annex II of the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
